Italian doctors’ hunger strike to support Gaza – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
On August 5, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health care workers across Italy participated in a fasting day to fight the current humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, Mehr News Agency reported.
The demonstration, held by the #Digiunogaza network and the “Teva? No thanks” campaign, involved more than 5 specialists and more than 5 hospitals and medical centers.
Silent but collective protest, hunger strike for Gaza
The initiative, which began on July 7 as a minimum meal and hunger strike in Tuscany, spread rapidly throughout the country.
On August 7, it witnessed spontaneous mobilization throughout Italy, from large hospitals such as Polyclinico Omberto I in Rome, St. Mattuo in Pavia and Molint in Turin to marginal areas such as Capra Island.
In Emilia-Romania, about 5 of all health officials in the region registered in more than 5 municipalities. Instead of going to the food without seal, they took pictures of themselves or in groups of health care professionals holding placards “fasting against genocide in Gaza”.
Silence is not impartial: silence during a genocide is a crime. And the Italian health care profession has decided not to silence
