The Nigerian parliamentarian at the Brix Business Summit emphasized the need to reform financial mechanisms between member states, calling for the expansion of national currency transactions, strengthening economic cooperation and joint ventures in key sectors, Mehr News Agency quoted the TV Breix as saying.
Wowwell Okee, chairman of the Nigerian House of Representatives, emphasized the need to deepen economic cooperation between the group’s member states, and considered it an important factor in developing economic sustainability.
“We need to trade and invest more with each other and build a business ecosystem that prioritizes our people,” he said, noting that strengthening intra -group trade is no longer a choice but an inevitable necessity.
He also emphasized the need for digital innovation, strategic use of resources and transactions with local currencies, and proposed to create a mechanism for settlement of financial accounts in national currencies.
He further called for joint investment in areas such as agriculture, clean energy, industrial production and pharmacy, adding that the new Brix Development Bank should go beyond a lender and support intra -group trade by providing financial guarantees and financing.
The head of the Nigerian House Foreign Affairs Committee also urged Brix member states to formulate a common framework in areas such as cyber security, e -commerce and artificial intelligence with the aim of digital and green transformation.
“Brix is not a closed club,” he said. Let’s work with the African Union, Assene and Mercosur to create a new global business order that is fair and inclusive.
