Barcelona cut off relations with Israel and stopped bilateral agreement
The Barcelona City Council voted to cut off institutional relations and cooperate with Israel and suspend the “friendship agreement” with Tel Aviv by violating international law and Palestinian law by the Zionist regime.
The project, backed by the ruling Socialist Party, along with extremist leftist and leftist groups in Barcelona, has called for an end to all formal relations with Israel “until respect for international law” and “revive the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.”
According to the Israeli newspaper, Barcelona also suspended the Sister and Friendship Agreement with Tel Aviv-Ayafa and urged the organizer of the Fira de Barcelona trade fair to host Israeli booths or companies involved in the arms trade or in the arms trade.
Such a decision was also made for the port of Barcelona.
“The suffering and death in Gaza over the past year and a half and the recent Israeli attacks make any relationship unnecessary,” the mayor of Barcelona said during a meeting of the City Council.
This is not the first time Barcelona have been suspending relations with the Zionist regime. In year 3, the then mayor Ada Kolau took similar action, which was later canceled with the defeat of the Quiboni in the local election.
Although this is not a practical impact, Spain’s second largest tourist destination and one of the most famous football clubs in the world, adds to the growing list of Israeli critics in the midst of the Gaza war.
