Ukraine’s readiness to negotiate directly with Russia in Istanbul
The head of the Ukrainian presidential office said the country is ready to resume direct peace talks with Russia on Monday in Istanbul.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has earlier proposed a history to negotiate with Ukraine, and he said the parties could meet in Istanbul on June 2, according to ISNA.
According to the Associated Press, Ukraine President Andrei Yermak said: “Ukraine is ready to resume direct peace talks with Russia in Istanbul on Monday, but Ukraine wants to participate in a constructive discussion.”
Ukrainian authorities insist that the Kremlin to submit a note before the delegation to negotiate, in which it takes its position to end the war that lasted more than three years.
In the same vein, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova announced on Friday that the Russian delegation would leave for Istanbul to negotiate with Ukraine with a draft agreement and other proposals on the ceasefire.
“This means that the Russian draft is important,” Yermak said. “I think there is enough time and it is enough to prepare and submit the documents.”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiha also told reporters on Friday: “Kiev is waiting for Russia to clarify its proposals before the next round of talks.”
“We want to end this war this year,” said the Turkish counterpart, at a joint News conference in Kiev, with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan. We are interested in setting up a 2 -day, 2 -day or 2 -day ceasefire. “Ukraine is ready to discuss this with Russia.”
