Trump signed executive instructions to facilitate regulations and increase nuclear power output
US President Donald Trump signed four executive orders on Friday to facilitate regulations and increase nuclear energy production.
The purpose of Trump’s new executive orders is to reform nuclear energy research at the Ministry of Energy, to create solutions for the construction of nuclear reactors in government -controlled lands, reviewing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and expanding and enriching uranium in the United States.
“These orders return the time to the fifty years of the industry’s regulations,” said US Interior Minister Dag Borgam, in a speech before the signing of these executive orders.
A senior White House official said that part of the construction of reactors in government -controlled lands is to respond to the increasing demand for artificial intelligence technology.
Trump’s executive orders have also been issued to accelerate the review and supervision processes for the construction and operation of nuclear reactors. According to a Article in Trump’s fourth executive order, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is obliged to handle new reactors’ licensing applications within six months.
This new timetable represents the US government’s goal to “reduce the regulatory burden and shorten the licensing process” for nuclear reactors.
