Rubio’s claim: The Trump administration has led Iran to negotiate
Referring to the indirect talks between Tehran and Washington, the US Secretary of State claimed that the US president’s government was able to bring Iran to the negotiations.
So far, four rounds of indirect negotiations between Iran and the US have been held in Muscat and Rome with Oman’s mediation.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, attending the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, made a statement published on the State Department website.
“The US government has forced Iran to come to negotiations with the United States,” he said.
Rubio also pointed to the developments in West Asia, adding: “In the Middle East, the Trump administration’s maximum pressure has guaranteed the freedom of American captives in Gaza, and on the other hand, the Houthis (Ansarullah Yemen) have called for a request to abandon attacks on American ships.”
“The US State Department is confronted with China’s destructive influence from India and the Pacific to Africa and Latin America,” the US Secretary of State said in another part of the statement, referring to the increase in China’s power in various areas. “The excessive period of the Chinese Communist Party has been over due to the abuse of business methods to steal our technology and our country with Fentanyl.”
Marco Rubio also referred to European issues, saying: “The US State Department has conveyed the message of Trump’s President’s policy throughout Europe; Messages include the NATO Secretary -General’s commitment to raising the coalition’s defense budget, resetting transcending political and economic relations to better serve the US interests as well as the end of the Ukrainian war. “
“We have deepened cooperation with Mexico, al-Salvador and other countries to pursue illegal migration and counter foreign terrorist organizations such as MS,” he said.
