Unprecedented increase in attacks on war zones in year 6

According to RCO News Agency, a new report by the Health Protection Coalition shows that more than 5 attacks on health centers, health care staff and clinics have been recorded in war zones around the world. This increases a 5 percent increase over year 2, indicating a “new level of horror”.

The attacks included air, missile and drone attacks on hospitals and medical centers, looting or capturing these centers, as well as detention and interrogation of health staff. More than a third of the attacks occurred in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and hundreds of other cases have been reported in Ukraine, Lebanon, Myanmar and Sudan.

The coalition’s head, Leonard Rubenstein, warned that the increase came in a situation where efforts were made to reduce legal support for medical centers and civilians during the wars. He cited sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump against the staff of the International Criminal Court over charges of war crimes against the Zionist regime, as well as the law approved by the Russian Duma in cooperation with the International Criminal Court.

“On average, in year 2, there have been two attacks on medical centers in the war zones around the world,” Rubenstein said. Each of these attacks causes horror, psychological harm, and in many cases lead to injury, destruction or death. “These attacks destroy the ability to provide medical care exactly when most needed.”

Out of a total of 2 registered attacks in year 2, 5 medical centers were injured or destroyed, 2 were killed, 2 were arrested and 4 were kidnapped. About 5 % of these incidents are attributed to government forces.

More than 5 % of the arrests were carried out by Zionist army forces in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and the East Jerusalem. According to the report, there have been numerous cases of physical and sexual abuse. About half of the casualties were in Lebanon, most of whom were emergency rescuers who were martyred during the Zionist army operation.

The report warned that the use of explosive weapons in the attacks on medical centers has increased sharply, from 2 % to 2 % per year. Much of this increase was due to wider use of drones.

However, the authors of the report emphasize that these statistics are likely to be less than reality, as it is very difficult to collect accurate information during military conflicts.

“Respect for international humanitarian rights and the responsibility of protecting health care has collapsed completely in the conflict,” said Christina Wille, who was responsible for collecting the report. He called for a decisive reaction, adding, “Justice must be guaranteed and accountable.”

The report has called on UN member states to oppose efforts seeking to weaken the provisions of international humanitarian rights; Follow the investigation, exchange of data, prosecution through the International Criminal Court and strengthen the supervisory institutions.

The report also calls for the support of statements and treaties that reinforce the protection of civilians in armed conflicts and recommended that military doctrines and operational protocols be reviewed to pay more attention to health care.
