Fidan: US and Russian delegations travel to Türkiye for the Ukrainian peace.
The Turkish Foreign Minister announced that the Russian and US delegations would head to Turkey for the possible talks in Istanbul.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Wednesday that Türkiye is waiting for Russian and US delegations to arrive in Istanbul on May 9.
“US and Russian delegations come to Istanbul,” Rihanovast News agency reported that Fidan said in an interview released by his office. Today I will negotiate with the Oman Foreign Minister. Many diplomatic interactions are being done.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said the details of the negotiations are still unclear.
The Russian president has rejected the proposal of Kiev and its European allies to establish an unconscious ceasefire in Ukraine, in return for direct and without prerequisite to Ukraine.
The Turkish government was ready to host the talks in Istanbul.
Three sources reported to Reuters that Steve Witakaf and Kate Clag, who have played a key role in the Ukrainian peace talks, are heading to Turkey to participate in possible peace talks.
While Moscow has not announced its official plan to attend the talks, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Riabkov said yesterday that it was ready to negotiate seriously and responsible for peace in Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnski, who had announced his readiness to attend the talks, criticized Moscow’s silence about participating in Istanbul’s talks, saying he was only willing to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin about peace, because he only had the authority to end.
In the same vein, Russian president Yuri Oshakov said Moscow is preparing for negotiations in Istanbul and Turkey is providing preparations for the negotiations.
According to him, the range of issues that will be raised in these negotiations is very widespread.
