Berlin is ready to pump arms to Ukraine if the ceasefire fails
The German Foreign Minister said Berlin is ready to continue with weapons assistance if the European ceasefire does not launch in the Ukrainian war and that peace talks were not launched.
According to RCO News Agency, German Foreign Minister Johann Waddul said on Monday that Berlin is ready to continue his arms assistance if the ceasefire is not established in the Ukrainian war.
“Germany has always shown its readiness to provide more weapons,” Ryanovast News agency reported that Vaddah told reporters. There is also widespread readiness among lawmakers.
Referring to the Ukrainian peace talks, he said: “If the talks are not initiated and the ceasefire is not implemented, Germany will certainly be ready to provide more auxiliary packages.”
Vaddul’s remarks come from recently that European leaders have recently proposed a two -day ceasefire in the Ukrainian war and warned that if the ceasefire was not established, the US and Europe would impose coordinated sanctions.
According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the ceasefire is to be implemented by the United States with the support of Europe. The day of Kiev and his allies to begin the ceasefire is Monday.
In the same vein, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday proposed a direct talks with Ukraine on May 5 in Istanbul, Turkey, which he said should be aimed at creating lasting peace and eliminating the roots of war.
He said Russia proposes direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul in an attempt to “eliminate the roots of conflict” and “achieve long -term and sustainable peace restore” rather than merely to restore weapons.
“We suggest that Kiev resumes direct negotiations without any preconditions,” Putin said. We suggest Kiev’s authorities to resume talks in Istanbul on Thursday.
However, Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnsky urged Russia to confirm the ceasefire before the talks began. He urged Russia to confirm the unconditional ceasefire on May 9 (Monday).
Following the developments, the Ukrainian president said in a statement Sunday: “I am waiting for a meeting with Putin on Thursday in Istanbul. We expect a complete and sustainable ceasefire from Monday to provide the basis for diplomacy. I hope that this time Russia will not make any excuses that they cannot agree.
