Alert Journalists’ Protection Committee about traveling to America
The Journalists’ Conservation Committee warned that international reporters should expect border restrictions, inspections of electronic devices and long interrogations when traveling to the United States.
According to RCO News Agency, the Journalists’ Protection Committee issued a warning to international reporters following reports of possible changes in Donald Trump’s government policy and warned of possible restrictions on entry, electronic inspection and long interrogations at the US border.
The warning came after several US media reported that the Trump administration was investigating a new plan to ban a ban on traveling to more than five countries, including Iran, Russia, Venezuela, Syria and several African countries.
Reporters’ Protection Committee said reporters who are linked to the countries or report on sensitive issues should be “expecting confrontation or interrogation”.
The institution emphasized that foreign journalists were not exempt from border surveys and recommended that they prepare themselves for the increased strictness of the US Customs and Border Protection.
The warning points to possible dangers, including heavy interrogations on political dependencies, recording or inspection of electronic devices, passwords and social network information, as well as the possibility of rejecting non -American reporters.
The committee also added that journalists who have dual citizenship from subject to countries may face more obstacles, including more severe screening and rejection of entry.
Although the Journalists’ Conservation Committee has announced that the project has not yet received a direct impact on reporters, it has called on all reporters to evaluate the risks and possible restrictions before traveling, eliminating sensitive information from their agencies, and familiar with their legal rights at the borders.
The alert has also issued a digital safety list and guidelines for reporters operating inside the US, including considerations when covering sensitive protests or political issues.
