US official: We made great progress in conversations with Iran
A senior US official expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of Rome’s talks.
A senior US government official announced progress in the talks Saturday evening and hours after the end of the second round of Iran -US talks in Rome, ISNA reported.
Like the first round, these conversations were held indirectly and with Oman’s mediation.
“After more than four hours of conversation, we made great progress,” he told CNN.
The US government official also announced that the parties agreed to meet each other next week.
He also appreciated Oman for facilitating negotiations and Italy for hosting it.
A US State Department spokesman also said in an interview with al -Miyaddin’s “significant progress” in Rome’s conversations.
Foreign Minister Sayed Abbas Arakchi also said after the end of the talks: “We had about four hours and it was a good meeting and talks are forward.” This time we were able to get a better understanding on a number of principles and goals, and finally the negotiations were to continue and enter the next stage, with expert meetings began.
The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that on Wednesday this week, technical talks at the level of experts in Oman will begin. It is natural that experts have more opportunities to enter the details and design a framework for an agreement, and then we will meet in Oman next Saturday to look at the results of the experts to see how close we are to the principles of an agreement.
