Hungary: Early acceptance of Ukraine is the EU to collapse
The Hungarian Foreign Minister warned that Brussels efforts to accelerate the Ukrainian membership process in the European Union could lead to economic instability, damage to the labor market and even the collapse of the union.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Pabter Siarto warned that EU efforts to accelerate the process of Ukrainian membership could lead to the collapse of the union.
“Ukraine’s early acceptance in the union will face EU with a slap of low quality goods and services, destabilize the labor market and bring irreparable damage to companies in the union,” Siarto said.
Hungary has expressed concerns since Ukraine’s membership in the European Union. The Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Urban has repeatedly emphasized that acceptance of Ukraine can harm the European economy, especially harmful to the Hungarian agricultural sector.
He has also warned that the move may destabilize the European labor market and harm the EU -based companies.
Budapest has also opposed military assistance to Ukraine and has repeatedly vetoed EU’s funding packages.
In 2008, Urban traveled to Moscow as the EU’s periodic head and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a move that was strongly criticized by other members of the Union.
