Calas: Iran -US talks are a step towards the right path
The EU foreign policy chief, in a statement about indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Oman, described this round as “a step in the right direction”.
EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kalas discussed issues at a meeting on Monday at the EU meeting.
One of the issues discussed between the EU countries is the start of indirect dialogue between Iran and the United States.
“The talks between Iran and the US in Oman are” a step in the right direction, “he told reporters in Luxembourg.
The EU foreign policy chief said: “These conversations are a right direction because we do not want Iran to reach nuclear weapons.”
“We have imposed new sanctions against Iran,” Calcis also said, referring to the EU’s recent measures to impose new sanctions on Iran.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union had boycotted seven citizens and four Iranian institutions on charges of “human rights abuse”.
In a statement, the Council said in a statement that the European Union has sanctioned sanctions against seven Iranian citizens, including judges and staff of the Iranian Prisons Organization and four Iranian organizations, on charges of “human rights abuses” and “oppression of protesters”.
Iranian officials have earlier condemned the EU sanctions, which are imposed by human rights violations against Iranian individuals and institutions, and have considered it illegal.
We are consulting with the European Troica about Iran
In response to a question about the possibility of playing the European Troika (Britain, France, Germany) in the future talks between Iran and the United States, Calas said: “At the previous meeting we had a widespread discussion of Iran and possible European measures on Iran’s issue, and today’s sanctions are one of these measures because Iran is hostage.”
“We are continuous consultations with the British, France and Germany on what our position is as we are approaching the deadline for the trigger mechanism,” he said.
“We need to talk to the United States about this because it is important to have an united approach in this regard because no one wants to see an Iranian who has a nuclear weapon,” Kalas added. “We are focused on efforts in this regard.”
News sources say the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the US will take place in Rome.
Israel’s actions far beyond self -defense
In another part of his press conference, the EU’s foreign policy chief addressed the Gaza war and the growing crimes of the Zionist regime against the stranger.
“Israel has the right to defend itself,” said Calas, emphasizing the EU support for the Zionist regime. But its current actions in Gaza are far beyond defending itself. “
“EU officials are working on the seventeenth package of European sanctions against Russia,” he said, referring to Europe’s demand for new sanctions on Russia. “The package will be announced at the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting in May.”
The EU’s Foreign Action Service Officer also said about the developments in Syria: “We had intensive talks about Syria and we examined further reduction of sanctions.” Clearly, they need services to rebuild Syria, but it is clear that we have not seen much of the new sovereignty (to reduce sanctions).
“The future of Syria, despite being fragile, has hope,” Kalas said.
