NATO Senior Commander: Russia is expanding its ammunition reserves up to 5 times the total US and European reserves
The senior NATO commander in Europe warned of the speed of Russian defense production and the replacement of ammunition and weapons that Moscow loses in the Ukrainian war, saying it would make Russian ammunition reserves three times as much as US and European ammunition reserves.
A senior American general warned Congress on Thursday that although Russia is losing its weapons, tanks and ammunition in Ukraine on Thursday, its defense production will easily offset it.
The Business Insider News website wrote: General Christopher Cavull, the senior commander of NATO in Europe, told the US Senate Armed Forces Committee that Washington expects Russia to produce 6,000 balls a month.
“This is three times larger than the total of US and European reserves,” said Cavull’s statement.
The four -star general in Congress urged lawmakers to strengthen their defense relations with their allies, and warned that they must cooperate closely to curb Russia that “becomes more and more hostile”.
One of the main concerns of Kavuli is that Russia is compensating for its casualties in Ukraine at a faster than expected and even stronger than before the war.
He says Moscow is quickly replacing its forces, ammunition and armored vehicles on all fronts.
In a statement, Cowley also warned Congress that tank production in Russia is expected to be five times as much as US production, Business Insider wrote.
He said Russia will produce 1,800 tanks a year, while the number in the US is 4 tanks.
Kavuli claimed the casualties and losses of the Russian army in Ukraine: Russian ground forces in Ukraine have lost about 6,000 tanks, 6,000 armored vehicles, 6,000 artillery systems and more than 5 air defense systems last year, but are rapidly replacing them.
As a senior NATO commander in Europe, Kavoli is working closely with Ukraine. A recent New York Times report shows that he is regularly meeting with Ukrainian generals and commanders at a secret base in Germany.
Cowley’s remarks come as the Trump administration is investigating major changes to the Pentagon’s role in NATO, including the possibility of resigning from NATO’s senior command in Europe by an American official. This position has long been run by an US military official.
In an interview with the Armed Forces Committee, Kavoli warned of the decision, saying that the change could make US control over its nuclear forces in Europe.
