Fidan: Israeli attacks endanger Syria’s stability
The Turkish Foreign Minister, pointing out that Ankara does not want to confront the Zionist regime in Syria, stressed that the Zionist regime’s attacks endanger Syria’s stability.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Friday that Turkey does not want to engage with the Zionist regime in Syria, but its repeated attacks on Syrian military facilities will weaken the new government’s ability to prevent threats such as ISIS.
In an interview with Reuters on the sidelines of a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, Hakan Fidan said the Zionist regime’s actions to target Syria, in which the new rule of Ahmed al -Sharah close Turkey exists, exacerbated regional instability.
“We do not want to see any confrontation with the Zionist regime in Syria, because Syria belongs to the Syrian people,” the Turkish Foreign Minister said.
Türkiye, which has a joint border with Syria, has become one of the most influential actors in Syria and its new ally. Ankara has supported militants for many years who now form a major part of the new sovereignty and fought against former Syrian President Bashar al -Assad.
The Zionist regime has accused Turkey of wanting to turn Syria into its own area.
When asked by Fidan whether Turkish plans for a joint defense treaty with Syria exacerbated the Zionist regime’s attacks on Syrian military bases, he responded that Ankara cooperated with regional partners to form a joint platform to prevent ISIL’s return and confront the joint threats.
The hazard of chaos is in ambush
He said the weakening of the effort was at risk of bringing the entire area to chaos.
Turkey, a member of NATO, has strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s attacks on Gaza since 2008, calling them genocide against the Palestinians, as well as requesting a case against the regime in the International Court of Justice and cut off all trade relations.
The Zionist regime rejects allegations of genocide.
The hostility between these regional powers has also been drawn to Syria, and the Zionist forces have targeted Syria for weeks after the new sovereignty in Damascus came to power.
Türkiye has called the attacks rape of Syria, while the Zionist regime has not allowed any hostile force in Syria.
Hakan Fidan said in this “transition period”, Türkiye does not want ISIL or the PKK armed group to exploit “the lack of regular forces and a shortage of some military capabilities” in Syria.
“Unfortunately, Israel destroys all the abilities that a new government can use to counter IS and other terrorist attacks and threats,” he said.
However, the Turkish Foreign Minister added that if the new department in Damascus wants to reach “understanding” with the Zionist regime, it is a matter of themselves.
Türkiye has promised to help rebuild Syria, from infrastructure to government agencies, and has provided political support for the country in international forums. Türkiye has called for the complete lifting of Western sanctions against Syria to launch reconstructed efforts and welcome the formation of a transitional government.
Relations with America
On Friday, Fidan, who met with US officials in Washington last week, said that US President Donald Trump’s government is revising its policies on Syria and sanctions imposed on it.
“We now have a new Syrian,” he said. I think this new Syria needs a different approach, “adding that Ankara has conveyed its views on its Western allies.
Fidan cited Trump’s “problem -solving techniques” as a way to resolve the remaining disputes between the two NATO allies, especially US sanctions against the Turkish defense industry, adding that he hoped to find a solution.
Any agreement for Ukraine is better than continuing to kill
He said the digestion of any possible peace agreement that the United States will mediate between Kiev and Moscow will be “difficult”, but it is still better than continuing death and destruction, adding that a deterrent was needed to ensure the war would not begin again.
Türkiye has maintained friendly relations with both parties, Kiev and Moscow since Russia’s operation against Ukraine in year 2. Türkiye has supported Ukraine’s territorial integrity and provided military assistance, while opposed sanctions against Russia. Ukraine has said that Türkiye, which has the second largest NATO army, could be an important guarantee of security.
Ankara has announced that it will consider joining a field peace initiative, though the details of such a mission are still unclear.
Meanwhile, Fidan repeated Türkiye’s proposal to host possible peace talks between Russia and Ukraine; The proposal was made after hosting the initial negotiations in Year 2.
When asked by Hakan Fidan about Trump’s threats to the US military attack on Iran, he said he needed diplomacy to resolve the dispute and Ankara did not want to see an attack on Iran’s neighbor.
“We have to bring Americans and Iranians around a table to have explicit and honest conversations,” the Turkish Foreign Minister said. This should be the only way forward. “
