Putin Special Representative: Trump has accepted that Ukraine will not join NATO
Krill Dimitrif, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the President’s Special Envoy to the United States, said that the idea of Ukraine’s failure to join NATO has been widely accepted, including by US President Donald Trump’s administration.
In an interview with Fox News, he noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that Ukraine’s joining NATO is impossible.
He also said that the US government, led by Trump, is providing a strong negotiation to Ukraine.
“Obviously the Trump administration wants Ukraine to be strong,” Dimitrif told CNN. “In all conversations, they make sure that Ukraine has a strong negotiation stance and that these are their constant messages.”
“Russia understands US concerns but seeks its own interests,” Putin’s Special Representative continued.
“We believe that talking to Americans in a language, understanding their concerns, understanding what is concerned is important, but according to Russian interests, what is useful for Russia is definitely more important,” Dimitrif told reporters in Washington. These are not just investment issues, but issues related to the continuous revival of relations between Russia and the United States.
Dimitrif, who has gone to the United States, has met with several US officials, including US President Special Representative Steve Witekaf.
