Istanbul City Council elected Akram Imamoglu
According to the results of a vote in the Istanbul City Council, Nouri Aslan, a representative of the Republican People’s Party of Turkey, was appointed as the mayor of Istanbul to replace the opposition mayor Akram Imamoglu.
According to RCO News Agency, on March 5, Imam Oglu, seen as the main rival of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the presidential election championships, was arrested on suspicion of communicating with an organization involved in corruption, bribery and assistance to terrorism.
On March 5, the Turkish court ordered Imamoglu’s arrest.
“The council members voted for Nouri Aslan and he was appointed as the mayor,” said the voter.
