Thousands of protesters in Serbia protested against government -backed plans to build a luxurious hotel by Trump’s son -in -law at the former army’s historic site, which was destroyed during the NATO bombing of the year.

The demonstrations on Monday coincided with Serbia’s memorial day, on the occasion of the anniversary of the NATO bombing operation on March 5. Demonstrators rallied around the ruins of the former military complex and demanded the reconstruction of the site as a monument and the cancellation of re -development plans. The protesters described the complex as “a memorial to NATO rape” and opposed its transfer to American developers.

“The former Army General Staff, the Serbian Cultural Center, was bombed by NATO in cooperation with the United States and should not be left to the Americans,” said one participant. “It’s really scary, terrible and completely unacceptable.”
The films released in the online space show participants chanting slogans against NATO, saying “Damn the Tower of Trump” and “We will never forget.”
The protesters also held the Serbian flag along with banners against NATO and the European Union.
Participants also held the flags of Russia, China, North Korea and Palestine.
