Lavrov: We support the revival of the cereal – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, referring to talks between Moscow and Washington in Riyadh, said Russia supports the restart of the Black Sea initiative, according to the Mehr News Agency.
“We support somehow revitalizing the Black Sea initiative; Of course it is suitable for everyone.
Referring to the remarks of Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnski, he added: “Our position is obvious; We can’t count on this man’s words. Russia wants to be predictable to the cereal market and the fertilizer market, and no one will try to remove Russia from these markets. Moscow is concerned about food conditions in Africa and other countries in the South that are affected by Western games.
The grain agreement was signed to provide a safe corridor for Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea ports as well as facilitating export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizer. However, most of the Ukrainian grains were exported to European countries, while the main purpose of the agreement was to ensure cereals for the needy countries, which of course failed. Also, the commitments to Russia were not fulfilled under the agreement, and as a result, Moscow was out of the agreement in July.
