Greenland criticism of the US delegation’s trip to the island
Greenland officials have criticized the upcoming US delegation’s visit to the semi -autonomous land of Denmark that President Trump has offered to join the United States.
According to RCO News Agency, a senior US delegation led by US Vice President Donald Trump’s wife Yusha Vanus is due to travel to Greenland soon, which has received a sharp response from officials in the area.
The US president has repeatedly said that Greenland has been willing to join the United States.
The delegation will visit a US military base in the region, with White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and US Energy Minister Chris Wright.
Greenland Prime Minister Mouteh Egde, who is in the final days of his career, called the US delegation’s visit to the coming days and said his government would not meet the delegation.
In an interview with a local newspaper, he said: “Until recently, we could trust Americans who were our allies and friends and enjoyed working closely with them, but that time is over.”
Waltz and Wright are planning to visit the Pitophistic Space Base, the US military base in Greenland. The White House has said that US military members will receive explanations.
They will then join Venice to visit historical sites and watch the National Animal Competition.
White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said the US delegation is confident that the meeting is an opportunity to create partnerships that respect the Greenland decision and promote economic cooperation.
Hughes added: “This is a meeting to meet Greenland, its culture, history and people, and to participate in the animal competition that the United States is proud of, just that.
In recent months, Donald Trump has made Greenland’s accession to America an important dialogue. Greenland’s strategic position and rich mineral resources can benefit the United States, along the shortest route from Europe to North America, which is critical to the US ballistic missile alert system.
Greenland and Denmark governments have seriously opposed such action.
“This is what we take seriously,” said Danish Prime Minister Dr Frederickson in response to News of the meeting. Denmark wants to cooperate with the United States, but it must be based on the constitution of the sovereignty.
