The arrest of Istanbul mayor Akram Imam Oglu has brought a wide wave of national protests in Türkiye, according to Mehr News Agency. However, opposition parties are now conducting political movements to expand Imam Oglu’s acceptance.

Accordingly, the Turkish Republican Party officially issued a statement nominated Akram Imam Oglu, the arrested mayor of Istanbul for the upcoming presidential elections in Türkiye.

Rajab Tayeb Erdogan, President and AKP leader, has been in power in Türkiye for more than five decades, and opposition parties are now trying to end the upcoming elections.
