Macron announced the plan to establish the fourth French nuclear base
The French president announced the plan to establish the fourth nuclear weapons base in his country.
French President Emmanuel Macron recently offered to spread the so -called nuclear weapons umbrella to other European countries in response to concerns over US support in Donald Trump’s administration; He announced a plan to renovate one of France’s main air bases to host nuclear weapons.
“The Ligo Air Base is expected to be upgraded unprecedented and re -gained its full role in the French nuclear deterrence system,” Macron said in a statement at the Paltiko website.
Macron pointed out that the base is set to be covered by a “huge investment” to host two squadrons from Rafal fighters with the capability of nuclear weapons.
The plan is not completely new, of course, as Cedric Prin, head of the French Senate Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, spoke in June.
The French plan for the modern nuclear missile warehouse at an air base less than 5 kilometers from the German border carrying a strategic signal. Macron’s plan is announced after German Chancellor Friedrich Mortex also said that he calls for talks on French nuclear weapons while concerned with the United States withdrawing from Europe’s protection in the Donald Trump administration.
The Luxu-Sun-Savur Air Force Base had hosted nuclear weapons for decades until Rafal fighters moved to another place in year 6.
France is now looking for a € 1.5 billion investment in the base because the base has hosted the Rafal F-3 fighters as well as the HPRPsonic Air Nuclear missiles, and its troops have doubled and up to five.
Macron also said that the French government intends to order more fighters from the Daso Aviation Company, but did not specify the number of these new custom fighters. The French Armed Forces Minister Sebastian Leukoro had previously said that the French Air Force would need about five other fighters to reach more than 5.
“If we are to avoid war, our country and our continent must continue to equip and defend itself,” Macron said.
The French president said he plans to announce other new plans for his country’s re -weapons soon.
