London: Putin’s betting for a ceasefire in Ukraine will be wrong
The British Foreign Minister, insisting that Europe’s support for Ukraine would be “infinite”, said Russia’s condition for a ceasefire in Ukraine, which is the first step for sustainable peace, would be wrong.
According to RCO News Agency, British Foreign Minister David Lami has said the condition from Vladimir Putin would be “wrong” for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, David Lami said that stopping the clashes would be a “first step” to start talks on “a complete agreement” to end the war.
As a result, talks between the United States and Ukraine have been raised by a six -day ceasefire, and US President Donald Trump sent his representative Steve Witekaf to Moscow to discuss plans with the Kremlin.
The Russian president said about the US initiative in Ukraine that the idea is right and we definitely support it, but at a News conference in Moscow, “there are issues that need to be discussed and I think we should talk to our American colleagues and partners.”
The Foreign Minister Daily Mirror, who is meeting with Group Seven counterparts in Canada, said there is an opportunity for “fair and sustainable peace” in Ukraine.
He said: America and Ukraine are calling for a complete, immediate and unconditional ceasefire. This will be the first step for conversations to a complete agreement to maintain Ukraine’s security and sovereignty. President Zelksky has shown that Ukrainian is on peace.
“Putin’s betting will be wrong,” Lemi emphasized the continued European support for Ukraine. Our support for Ukraine and the support of other partners remains unstoppable.
“We agree with the suggestions to stop the clashes, but we come to the idea that the ceasefire should lead to lasting peace and eliminate the root causes of the crisis,” the British Foreign Minister said.
The British Prime Minister’s Office has explicitly stated that it supports Donald Trump’s “very bad” financial consequences for Moscow if Putin’s failure to cooperate with peace talks.
Responding to a question of whether Britain would raise sanctions if the Kremlin rejects the ceasefire proposal, the British Prime Minister’s Office said “continuous US, British and European pressure” would undermine Russian revenue sources.
Following the Lemi’s talks in Group Seven on Friday, British Prime Minister Kerry Starmer is due to hold a meeting on Saturday (tomorrow).
