Calas: A special agreement on Ukraine without the European Union is not concluded
The EU foreign policy chief said the United States is informing the European Union about negotiations on Ukraine, including recent talks in Saudi Arabia and Moscow.
“US Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained to us what was going on in Saudi Arabia, and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to Middle East and negotiations,” Washington lets us know. “
The EU foreign policy official also added that Washington has pledged that it would not agree to any of Russia’s conditions for the ceasefire unless it has been approved by the European Union.
Calas also said in a joint statement on the results of the latest meeting of the Group of Foreign Ministers in Canada that countries have not yet reached an agreement.
“There are two important issues, the Middle East and Ukraine,” he said. “We are discussing these issues, but surely when talking about writing words on paper, you know that there is really a lot of detail.”
The European official also told Reuters: “Russia is likely to agree to Ukraine with the US proposal for the ceasefire, but with certain conditions.”
The European official emphasized: Ukrainian land is red line. There is no special agreement on Ukraine without the European Union.
He added that the European Union offers € 5 billion of military aid to Ukraine this year.
On Tuesday, a meeting of US and Ukrainian delegations was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian president’s office Volsimir Zelnski issued a joint statement following the talks that Kiev is ready to propose to the US for a six -day ceasefire with Russia with the possibility of extending it with a bilateral agreement.
The document also states that the United States will immediately resume help to Ukraine and cancel the exchange of information.
