Funny’s proposal to form the European Defense Union
The head of the European Commission continued his efforts to militarize the continent calling for the formation of a European “Defense Union” to cut off military dependence on the United States.
According to RCO News Agency, the European Commission Chairman Orzola von Derreline said at a press conference in Brussels after five days of his second round of presidency to the European Commission, “We have clearly entered a new geostrategic competition.”
Not long ago, a € 5 billion plan to intensify military investment in the European Union under the name of “European re -weapons”, he said, “We are seeing both sovereignty and iron’s commitments.”
Fon Darren praised the European Re -Re -Reinishness Investment Plan worth € 5 billion ($ 2 billion) that unveiled it on Tuesday last week, calling it a “historic step towards strengthening the EU army”.
“This project could be the basis for the formation of the European Defense Union,” he said. “The block can also enter a coalition with other intellectual countries such as Britain, Norway or Canada.”
The European Commission’s head added that the commission will soon release its official report on “threat scenarios and offer measures to eliminate them”.
Von’s statements in the line come as US President Donald Trump has long been under pressure to raise their military spending. But in his approach to ending the Ukrainian war, he angered many EU members because he blamed Ukraine for the start of the war and also suspended Washington’s military assistance to Kiev.
In the second round of his presidency, Trump also abandoned the policy of the previous government led by Joe Biden in providing Ukrainian assistance, and thus has largely opposed the EU’s approach to revise his defense measures to fill US aid vacuum to Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron recently described Russia as “a threat to Europe” and spoke in a controversial proposal that the possibility of using his country’s nuclear weapons arsenal to protect the European Union.
Moscow, however, reacted that Macron’s statements were “extremely conflict”.
