North Korea’s Central News Agency, citing the country’s leader’s visit to a submarine construction project with Pyongyang’s nuclear propulsion, described the North Korean Navy’s fundamental strengthening of Pyongyang’s defense strategy, according to Mehr News Agency.
North Korea’s Central News Agency wrote that Kim had visited the shipbuilding factory focused on the construction of warships without mentioning the details of the project.
According to the news agency, the construction of a strategic nuclear submarine equipped with a guided missile is one of the main military targets in the list of advanced weapons unveiled at the previous meeting of the North Korean Workers’ Party.
North Korea has between two and three submarines, one of the largest fleets in the world, according to the US -based Nuclear Threat Initiative.
