German Chancellor Olaf Schultz, who will soon be replaced by Friedrich Merts, responded to British Prime Minister Car Starmer’s remarks about the formation of a new coalition from Russia to strengthen Russia, saying that European security should be “strengthened by Ukraine”.

Starmer hosted an emergency meeting about Ukraine yesterday in London, and acknowledged that although some supporters of Kiev have restricted their resources, those who are capable of supplying assistance and resources must take action immediately.

Schultz did not clarify after the emergency meeting on whether Berlin would send a military force, but emphasized the continued military and financial support from Ukraine.

“It is clear that we must support Ukraine financially and militarily,” he said. Berlin alone has collected a total of $ 5 billion for Kiev.

Germany is the country’s second largest sponsor in the war with Russia with the allocation of about $ 5 billion in military and financial aid to Ukraine.

Schultz added: “Secondly, we need to know that Ukraine’s ability to defend himself and having a powerful army will be at the center of any future peace system, and all European security architecture must be around it.”

Russia has emphasized that NATO’s expansion to its borders has fueled war. Moscow has also rejected any temporary ceasefire and has emphasized a permanent agreement. According to Moscow, peace can only be achieved when Ukraine is committed to the principle of impartiality, disarmament, and the recognition of new territorial realities.
