Zelnsky: US aid was a gift/ exchanging withdrawal with NATO

Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelksky Sunday rejected US President Donald Trump’s remarks on US amounts and types of aid to Ukraine.

“During the three years of the war, the United States has helped Ukraine only $ 5 billion,” Zelnsky claimed.

“US aid has been provided as grants, not loans,” he said in a News conference.

Zelnsky also denied claims that $ 5 billion should be considered a debt.

The Ukrainian president also said that it was ready to step down to achieve peace in Ukraine or enter NATO.

“If you really need to get out of power for peace in Ukraine, I’m ready,” he said. “I can also exchange it with NATO, if such conditions are provided immediately.”

His remarks come as Trump has expressed his demand for “US loans to Ukraine” in numerous speeches.

The US president warned Sunday that Ukraine would have many problems if he opposed the signing of the US rights agreement to his mineral resources.

Zelnsky has so far refused to sign the agreement.

The US president had said earlier this month that he was looking for an agreement and access to Ukrainian natural resources worth $ 5 billion, which is considered as a repayment for Kiev’s aid during the war with Russia.

The US president also continued, “We either sign this agreement or that it is not signing it for Ukraine.”

He also added that the deal will be optimisticly signed in a short period of time, and Washington will revive its $ 2-5 billion.

Trump has said that Europe has spent $ 5 billion in helping Ukraine, while the US has given $ 5 billion.

“These money was spent in Ukraine because we had a stupid and inefficient president and government,” he said. I ask them to give us something about the money we spent. These money is offset by oil and natural resources. We have to return our money. “We have to do it because it is not fair.”

Despite Trump’s remarks, Zelnsky, in addition to a gift from US aid to Ukraine, has estimated Washington’s aid to Kiev just $ 5 billion.

He had earlier said that the rest of the US aid was “lost” and their fate was unclear.

On the other hand, his remarks about his readiness to quit while Zelksky have prevented the presidential election in Ukraine under various pretexts.
