The Kremlin’s assistant assessed Moscow-Washington’s consultation positively
The Kremlin’s assistant today (Tuesday) said that the Moscow -Washington summit was completed in Riyadh, saying that negotiations between Russian and American delegations were “good”.
“In my opinion, negotiations between Russian and American officials were not bad,” ISNA reported.
The participants had a serious conversation on all issues, and serious efforts were needed before the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, the presidents of Russia and the US.
He noted that the first round of talks held in the morning and noon was completed.
According to Oshakov, the visit of the Russian and US presidents is unlikely in the coming days. He said it is difficult to determine the exact date of the meeting right now.
Earlier, the Bloomberg News website had reported no further details that the ongoing negotiations in Russia and the US could pave the way for Trump and Putin to visit Saudi Arabia next week.
The Kremlin’s deputy said in his remarks that the high -level negotiations of US and Russian officials in Riyadh ended for about two and a half hours. The negotiations began at 9:50 pm Greenwich time.
Oshakov also said: “Separate teams from the two countries are expected to call for the Ukrainian issue. “We have discussed our principled approaches and have agreed that separate negotiating teams will contact each other at the right time.”
Russia and the United States agreed to consider each other’s interests during the Riyadh talks, the Russian diplomat said. The two sides also agreed to advance bilateral relationships, and both sides want to do so.
Oshakov also said: “It is hard to say that Russia and the United States have been closer to each other, but conversations were made in Riyadh. It is hard to say that they are getting closer, but we’ve talked about it. “We will consider the interests of others and promote bilateral relations.”
The Kremlin’s assistant noted that the meeting between the US and Russian presidents is unlikely to be held in the coming days, adding: “The two countries’ delegations should cooperate closely. We are ready to do this, but it’s too early to talk about a specific course, specific dates to meet leaders. “The two countries are working to create conditions for a meeting between the presidents.”
Yuri Oshakov also said Putin would decide who joins the Russian negotiating team. It is still unclear, but when the list of participants at a meeting between US and Russian presidents is presented, Putin makes the decision.
The Russian delegation in Riyadh will also focus on Saudi -related issues, referring to the completion of negotiations between Russia and the US in Riyadh.
