German police spokesman declared the identity of the suspect attacking a car in Munich as Afghanistan, according to the Mehr News Agency.

According to a police spokesman, the man is 5 years old and is applying for asylum in Germany. Bayern Governor Marcus Zodir also says the incident is suspected of “terrorist attack”.

Police have not yet provided details of whether the incident was deliberate. However, a local media reported that the injured were involved in demonstrations related to the strikes organized by the Verdi Union. Earlier, the number of casualties was reported to be 4, but now local media have reported the number of casualties to five, including children.

The incident happened just days before the Munich Security Conference began. The summit will attend senior and prominent officials in various countries, including US Vice President Jedi Venus, as well as Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnski. The incident will undoubtedly exacerbate security measures on the eve of the conference, which takes place on February 4-5.

The incident also occurred within two days until early German elections, and immigration is one of the main issues and concerns of the voters.
