Intense military activity canceled agency inspectors at the Zaporgia Nuclear Power Plant – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, citing the cancellation of the agency’s inspectors, based at the Zaprovia nuclear power plant, cited the cause of the stressful military activity in the area, according to the Mehr News Agency.
The rotational displacement of the International Atomic Agency inspectors, now stationed at the Zaprojia nuclear power plant, was canceled due to intense military activity in the area, Gross said in a statement.
He added: Despite the written guarantees of the parties (Ukraine and Russia) to ensure the inspectors’ rotational relocation, conditions showed that the continuation of the teams was overly dangerous and as a result the displacement was canceled. IAEA inspectors deployed at the Zaporgia nuclear power plant are by no means acceptable.
Grossi continued: “I am deeply sorry for the cancellation of our inspectors, who were careful about the process and, in a very challenging situation, have a vital responsibility to help prevent the nuclear accident during the war.” It is by no means acceptable that the safety of our employees will be in danger. The Agency is negotiating with Moscow and Kiev to ensure the security of inspectors based at the Zaprojia nuclear power plant.
In the early months of its military operation in Ukraine in February, Russia seized the Zaporgia region and joined it after a referendum and a majority of residents. The Zaprojia nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest power plant, was controlled by Russia at the same time. Ukraine has repeatedly claimed that Moscow is attacking this sensitive power plant!
