Russia facilitates Vietnam’s joining BRICS
During his visit to Vietnam, the Russian Prime Minister said that Russia is ready to facilitate Vietnam’s joining BRICS as a “partner country”.
According to Isna, a joint statement was published on Wednesday during the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Vietnam, in which this case was mentioned.
According to the News agency “Novosti”, the joint statement states: “The Russian side welcomed Vietnam’s active participation in BRICS events in 2024 and declares its readiness to facilitate joining the bloc as a partner country.”
Since its inception in 2009, BRICS has championed a multipolar international order and a fair global financial and trading system. The BRICS nations are considering a new reserve currency that would allow their countries greater economic independence.
Five countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Egypt, became full members of the “BRICS” group on January 1, 2024 (11 January 1402), which is now called “BRICS+”.
The BRICS group was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, while South Africa joined the bloc in 2011 and Brazil will hold its rotating presidency in 2025.
The Russian Prime Minister went on to say that Moscow and Hanoi have great potential for developing relations: “Russia wants to strengthen practical cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of energy and transportation.”
In his meeting with the President of Vietnam, he said: “We support the strengthening of practical cooperation with friendly Vietnam in all fields, primarily in the field of energy, industrial cooperation, transportation and agriculture. We also have a lot of potential to increase mutual investments.”
