Moscow: Washington’s hostile actions will not go unanswered
In response to the new US sanctions against the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced: “Washington’s hostile actions will not go unanswered.”
According to RCO News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia reacted to the new US sanctions against the country by publishing a statement on Saturday evening.
According to “Sputnik” News agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia announced: “Washington’s hostile actions will not go unanswered.” “The new sanctions are an attempt to harm the Russian economy and at the same time risk destabilizing global markets.”
The Russian diplomatic service also added: “The future president of the United States, who is unable to cancel the sanctions without the approval of Congress, is the heir to the “scorched earth” policy.”
On Friday evening, the United States, in the most severe round of maritime navigation sanctions in recent years, announced that it placed more than 200 individuals and entities on its sanctions list.
The Biden administration announced on Friday that it has targeted more than 180 vessels and dozens of individuals and entities related to Russian oil and gas production and trade.
The Biden administration has also authorized the sanctioning of “any person found to have worked or is working in the Russian energy sector.”
Janet Yellen, the US Treasury Secretary, said in this regard that this action by Washington was done in order to disrupt Russia’s income generation from the energy sector.
He said: “With today’s measures, we are increasing the risks of sanctions related to Russian oil trade, including in the field of transportation and facilitating financial transactions.”
The British Treasury has also announced that it has imposed sanctions against oil companies, including Russia’s Gazprom Neft.
Gazprom Naft has called Washington’s actions “baseless” and “illegal” in response to the US sanctions.
One of the representatives of this company said in this regard: “Gazprom Naft considers the decision to put its assets on the sanctions list unfounded, illegal and against the principles of free competition.”
