Trump’s economic and military threat against Greenland and other countries

According to RCO News Agency, President-elect Donald Trump addressed many issues in a press conference on Tuesday evening, including the ongoing war in Gaza, Ukraine, developments in Syria and his desire to join the Panama Canal, Greenland and Canada to the United States.

At the beginning of his press conference, he said that he will use economic and military pressure to “connect” the Panama Canal and Greenland.

In response to a question about his desire to annex Canada to the United States, Trump said that “we will not use military pressure, we will use economic pressure.”

Referring again to Denmark’s opposition to the annexation of Greenland to America, he claimed: “Denmark should join Greenland to America in order to protect the free world from Russian and Chinese ships.”

He went on to say, contrary to his previous statements that he would end the war in Ukraine within “one day”, he said: “I hope the war in Ukraine will end within 6 months.”

Trump also said: “We will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.”

On Dec. 18, Trump said he would consider adding Canada to the United States as the 51st state, saying such a move could significantly reduce costs for Canadians.

He also previously jokingly called Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the “governor of the great state of Canada,” amid controversy over the possibility of US tariffs on Canadian goods after Trump takes office. The Canadian government responded by saying that it is determined to defend the country’s interests, considering the comments of the future president of the United States, who called Canada an “American state”.

On December 22, Trump also said that due to the high tariffs for crossing the Panama Canal, he will demand the quick return of the Panama Canal to the ownership of the United States. The politician emphasized that the Panama Canal is vital to American trade, as well as to the rapid deployment of American naval forces in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Also, Trump called the ownership of Greenland “absolutely necessary” for the United States. On the same day, the Prime Minister of Greenland responded to Trump’s words and said that Greenland is not for sale and will never be for sale.

Donald Trump’s statements about the possibility of Greenland, Canada and the Panama Canal becoming part of the US territory were widely reflected in the world media.
