The black box of the crashed South Korean plane will be sent to America – Mehr News Agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr News Agency, quoted by AFP, South Korea’s Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation, Jo Jong-wan, announced the decision of the investigation team regarding the fatal accident of the passenger plane of this country to send one of the plane’s black boxes to the United States for investigation and analysis.
A Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 plane crashed on Sunday with 181 passengers on board, skidded off the runway and hit a concrete barrier at high speed. As a result of this accident, 179 passengers were killed and only 2 people survived.
Regarding the investigation process, Jo Jong-wan said: “The damaged black box of the plane has been determined to be unrecoverable inside South Korea, and today it was agreed that it will be transferred to this country for investigation in cooperation with the US National Transportation Safety Board.”
He had previously said that the black boxes of the plane have been recovered and the preliminary stages of recovery have been completed regarding the cockpit voice recorder.
The South Korean aviation official added: “Based on the initial data, we have decided to start the process of converting it into an audio version so that investigators can listen to the pilot’s last conversations.” The second black box, which is the flight data recorder, was found with a missing piece.
