NATO expands its presence in the Baltic Sea
In response to the recent damage to undersea cables in the Baltic Sea, the NATO Secretary General said that the military presence of the alliance will be expanded in this sea.
According to Isna, the recent damage to the submarine cables in the Baltic Sea, which cut off the underwater power lines between Finland and Estonia, has brought the reaction of the NATO Secretary General.
According to Rasha Today, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte wrote on X social network regarding this issue: “I express all my support and solidarity. “NATO will increase its military presence in the Baltic Sea.”
He also said earlier: “NATO condemns any attack on critical infrastructure.”
On Wednesday, December 25th (December 5th), the connection of the Stlink 2 cable between Estonia and Finland was interrupted, and after that, the Finnish authorities announced the possibility of sabotage in this case and seized the Russian oil tanker “Eagle S”. According to some reports, it is possible that the anchor of this ship damaged the cables.
Kaya Kalas, EU foreign policy chief and former prime minister of Estonia, claimed: “This ship belongs to a part of Russia’s shadow fleet, which is used to circumvent sanctions, especially in the oil sector.”
Russia has refused to comment on this matter, but has previously condemned these sanctions as “illegal and unjustifiable actions”.
