Neutralizing Ukrainian plans to assassinate senior Russian military officials
Russia’s Federal Security Service thwarted a series of assassination attempts on high-ranking officials of the country’s defense ministry, planned by Ukraine.
According to Isna, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced today (Thursday) that it foiled the attempt of Ukrainian special services to assassinate high-ranking officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense participating in Russian military operations in Ukraine and their relatives.
An explosive device attached to a magnet as a charging device was intended to be planted under the company car of a high-ranking Russian defense ministry official, driven by a close associate, the FSB said. This explosion was supposed to be carried out remotely from the territory of Ukraine.
Also, a terrorist act related to another Russian military force was planned by Ukraine with the participation of two Russian citizens who were supposed to deliver an improvised explosive device to him in the form of a document folder. The device was hidden in a warehouse in the Moscow region with coordinates provided by a Ukrainian citizen living in Poland.
According to this statement, four Russian citizens who were involved in preparing the aforementioned assassinations were arrested. A resident of Moscow was identified as having been hired by Ukrainian special services to collect information on targets. Bomb components were hidden in household appliances, tools and car parts and imported into Russia.
According to Sputnik, according to this intelligence agency, explosives and communication devices used in criminal activities were seized from the detainees. Criminal cases have been filed against the arrested persons with accusations of direct involvement in illegal smuggling of explosives, preparation of terrorist acts and treason. All 4 arrested persons face the possibility of life imprisonment.
