Kolba: Ukraine’s joining NATO is the only obstacle to revenge war against Russia
Ukraine’s former foreign minister warned that the country’s capacity to adopt “retaliatory policies should not be underestimated” and said that Ukraine’s joining NATO is the only way to avoid a retaliatory war against Russia in the future.
According to RCO News Agency, “Dmytro Kulba”, the former foreign minister of Ukraine, said that the country’s membership in NATO will prevent Kiev from “retaliating”.
The Rashatudi network added that Kolba said in an interview with the Kyiv Independent that membership in NATO would be the only way for Kyiv to re-enter the war with Russia in the future.
He warned that Kyiv’s capacity to adopt “retaliatory policies” should not be underestimated.
The former foreign minister of Ukraine had previously warned many times that NATO’s reluctance to accept Ukraine’s membership would significantly hinder the possibility of achieving a peaceful solution to the war with Russia.
Moscow has opposed Kiev’s membership in this Western military alliance as a threat to Russia’s national security. Kiev’s official refusal to join NATO and its neutrality are the main conditions for Moscow to start peace talks.
In an interview with the Kyiv Independent, Kulba said that it is possible that in the short term, the parties could reach a ceasefire without Ukraine’s NATO membership, noting that this “will not mean the end of the war and prevent the next war.”
What Kolba meant by the next war were 2 possibilities; One was Russia’s attack on this military coalition led by the United States, which Moscow called negligent and said it had no intention.
However, Kulba said: “If everything we know about Russian President Vladimir Putin is true, he will attack NATO only if he defeats Ukraine.” If Ukraine wins this war and joins NATO, the united force of this alliance will be invincible against Russia.
The second possibility he outlined is Ukraine’s retaliatory attack on Russia in retaliation for the current war and the recapture of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhia and Crimea, which have been annexed by Russia.
The former foreign minister of Ukraine said that although “the next generation of Ukrainian politicians will, by and large, focus on rebuilding it after the war, they will come to power with vengeful slogans.”
He stated: Ukraine’s membership in NATO will be the only way to prevent the next war and prevent Ukraine’s war against Russia and limit it with legal obligations so as not to endanger its allies with a war against Russia.
But Moscow’s position is that any peace process with Kiev will be possible with the cessation of military operations in Ukraine and the recognition of the territories occupied by Russia.
