Kyiv accused 2 European countries of discrediting Brussels
The adviser to the president of Ukraine accused Slovakia and Hungary of damaging the reputation of Brussels.
According to RCO News Agency, “Mikhail Podoliak”, the senior adviser to the President of Ukraine, said that Hungary and Slovakia are increasingly close to the positions of the Russian government and are creating obstacles in the positions of the European Union against Russia.
The leaders of Hungary and Slovakia have opposed unconditional arms and financial support to Kiev and insist that the dispute should be resolved through diplomacy.
Earlier this month, Kyiv criticized the Hungarian government for proposing a Christmas truce and also expressed its anger over the visit of the Slovak prime minister to Moscow.
“They are constantly blocking the EU’s plans at various levels and it is questionable why they are still playing this game,” Podoliak said on a TV show. “2 countries are destroying the reputation of the European Union, but there is no reaction.”
He suggested that Brussels use its own rules and regulations to limit the ability of Hungarian and Slovak representatives to block the approval of EU plans.
He also claimed that the governments of Hungary and Slovakia have become closer to Russia and said that if Slovakia believes that Russia is right, it should leave the European Union.
Slovak authorities are surprised by Kiev’s attempt to stop gas exports from Russia to Slovakia. The country’s president recently said that Ukraine must come to terms with the loss of territories such as Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk, and said that Kiev should prepare to grant territorial concessions to Moscow.
