Russia is ready to consider proposals to normalize relations with the United States
Russia’s deputy foreign minister said today (Wednesday): Russia is ready to consider any proposal from the new US administration on how to normalize relations between the two countries.
According to Isna, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters: “We will certainly consider any requests in this regard, as well as other issues related to the need to return to relative normalcy in relations between Moscow and Washington.”
However, Ryabkov stated that there is currently “no understanding” on how to achieve such a normalization of relations.
Speaking to reporters, Ryabkov also noted the lack of information about the intentions of new US special envoy Keith Klugg, particularly about possible engagement with Russia over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to US President-elect Donald Trump as an “intelligent” and “experienced” politician and revealed Moscow’s willingness to enter into dialogue with the future administration in Washington.
The Kremlin spokesman also pointed out today that Russia does not have any details about the planned trips of Donald Trump’s special envoy Keith Klug to Ukraine, and there has been no contact with Trump’s team in this regard.
“No, we don’t have any details,” Peskov said at his press conference. We have seen relevant media reports that such trips are being planned. “There has been no contact with Trump’s team in this regard.”
