Georgian activist: Westerners are organizing protests in Georgia
The head of the Georgian organization active in human rights emphasized that the recent protests of European Union supporters in this country were organized and supported by the West with the aim of overthrowing the Tbilisi government.
According to Isna, “Nana Kakabadze”, the head of the Georgian non-governmental organization known as “Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights”, noted that the recent protests in Georgia by the West and through non-governmental organizations aimed at overthrowing the Tbilisi government and opening a “second front”. ” have been organized and provided against Russia.
In an interview with “Novosti” News agency, Kakabadze said: “The opposition in Georgia does not act as an opposition, but as a foreign agent. The protests (in Georgia) are funded by liberal foundations. They are implementing Western orders without considering the interests of Georgia. They pretend as if the parliamentary elections held here were undemocratic. Then, when our government attacked the westerners, that’s why they came to the streets and asked people to join them. But in reality, they are not interested in any of them, but they are interested in implementing the order received from the West.”
According to Kakabadze, financial support for protests and political activists is provided through Western non-governmental organizations.
He noted: “The leaders of these gatherings and demonstrations are non-governmental organizations funded by the West. They are also an important part of the opposition parties, but the entire Georgian people are naturally against this movement. You know that ordinary people are passive and continue to exist quietly. “But those who have received money and received orders to make a move are active.”
This well-known human rights figure in Georgia said the West stopped funding most human rights projects in Georgia to focus on political activities. These NGOs have not proposed any new humanitarian projects or programs related to prisons or hospitals and instead have gone to support street protests.
This human rights activist stated that the government of Georgia and the West have been at odds since 2022 when Tbilisi did not want to align its policy towards Russia with the demands of the West.
“The West and Ukraine made demands that we should open a second front in Georgia in order to create problems for Russia,” Kakabadze noted. America was supposed to help this program and give us money and weapons.
The Georgian government preferred its national interests to its public image in the West and risked everything in order to challenge the West.
“They chose to save the country,” he added. If they had opened a second front here, Georgia would no longer exist. But as a result of this decision, not only Ukraine, but the whole West began to oppose our government directly, clearly and openly.
According to Rianavosti, since about 2 weeks ago, a new wave of opposition protests has affected Georgia; The protests that arose following the decision of Irkli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, to stop the negotiations on his country’s membership in the European Union and to reject the financial support of the European Union until 2028. The security service of the Georgian government announced on Tuesday that the recent protests in this country are carried out in coordination with agents of foreign governments in an effort to derail the December 14 presidential elections in Georgia.
