According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, while European and Middle Eastern countries are seeking to return Syrian refugees to their country at the same time as the Syrian central government falls, but the evidence shows that this country cannot withstand the flood of refugees returning.
At the time of the start of the Syrian war in 2011, the country had a population of 21 million. Apart from the hundreds of thousands of human casualties of the war, 13 million people were displaced in this country.
United Nations estimates in 2024 show that 7,400,000 Syrians are still displaced inside the country. Among these, 4 million and 900 thousand Syrians have taken refuge in neighboring countries, mainly in Türkiye.
European countries also host more than 1,300,000 Syrian refugees, and Germany accepted the largest number of these refugees during Angela Merkel’s chancellorship.
