Armenian Prime Minister’s warning against ignoring Soviet borders
The Armenian Prime Minister described it as a dangerous approach, warning that “ignoring the Soviet border maps regarding Armenia would mean giving up on this country.”
According to Isna, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote today (Thursday) in a message on X social network: The opponents say that the maps of a country that no longer exists outside (the Soviet Union) are not acceptable for determining the borders of Armenia, I must say clearly that Such an approach is very dangerous for Armenia, because abandoning the plans of the Soviet era could mean abandoning our country and independence.
He continued: We gained our independence in the territory of Soviet Armenia and the international community has recognized us as such.
Pashinyan noted that Armenia’s commitment to an internationally recognized territory provides an important security buffer.
At the end of October, Eduard Asrian, the head of the General Staff of Armenia, said that the restoration of the territorial integrity of Armenia is possible after the demarcation of the border with the Republic of Azerbaijan is completed.
