According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Reuters, the tension between Russia and Ukraine escalated following a drone attack on a convoy carrying inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency who were on their way to the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed on X social network: On a road in the Zaporizhia region where Russia is still holding a nuclear power plant hostage, a Russian drone attacked the convoy of the Agency, which is responsible for ensuring nuclear security around the world!
Zelensky further said that the attack did not cause any victims or injuries. He also claimed that Russia was not unaware of the target and accused Moscow of deliberately attacking the agency’s convoy of inspectors!
Rafael Grossi, the director general of the agency, said in a video statement in response to this incident: Attacking those who care about nuclear security and the security of these power plants is not acceptable in any way.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry in a statement accused Kiev of attacking the convoy and emphasized that the Ukrainian forces also attacked the convoy of Russian vehicles that escorted inspectors and personnel of the agency to the Zaporozhye power plant and were returning. .
