President of Serbia: I am not Assad – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
Referring to the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Western countries are trying to change the regime in Serbia, but the government of this country will not back down, according to Mehr news agency, citing Rashatoudi.
Since the start of the Ukrainian war in February 2022, Serbia has always emphasized its neutrality and refused to join the EU sanctions against Moscow. After the fall of the Assad government in Syria, some opposition activists compared Vucic to Assad and expressed hope that he would leave power and leave Serbia!
However, Vucic responded by publishing a video on the internet and said: “If they think that I am Assad and I am running away, they are wrong, I will not do such a thing.”
He added: I will fight for Serbia and I will only serve my people. I will never serve foreigners or those who want to defeat, humiliate and destroy Serbia.
Vučić called the opposition critics and protesters the agents of foreign powers, with foreign funding and part of a combined tactics to undermine Serbia.
Although the Serbian President’s party has an overwhelming majority in the parliament, several opposition parties are calling for the resignation of the cabinet, referring to the November 1 incident in the northern city of Novi Sad!
They blame the government for the collapse of the concrete canopy of the Novi Sad train station, which killed 15 and injured two.
