French military planes left Chad forever
After announcing the cancellation of military cooperation between France and Chad, French fighters left this country.
According to RCO News Agency, French sources announced that following Chad’s decision last month to end military cooperation between France and this African country, French fighters left Chad forever today (Tuesday).
An informed source said that 2 Mirage 2000-D fighter jets and a refueling plane took off from an airport in this country around noon today and left Chad. According to another source, after the Chadian government demanded the cancellation of military cooperation agreements between this country and France, the presence of these military planes in Chad was no longer justified.
The government of Chad announced in a statement earlier this month: “The government of the Republic of Chad has informed the national and international community of its decision to terminate the defense agreement signed with the French Republic on September 5, 2019, which was aimed at strengthening security and defense cooperation between the two countries. informs.” Chad’s foreign minister also said at the time that although France remains a “vital partner” for the country, Paris “must now consider that Chad has grown and matured.”
Chad’s decision is in line with a broader trend among former French colonies in Africa, including Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, which recently ended their military partnership with Paris. Many of these countries have sought alternative alliances, including closer ties with Russia, to address security challenges.
