Moscow: We are against the expansion of NATO to Asia
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia openly stated that this country is against the expansion of NATO to Southeast Asian countries.
According to Isna, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, who traveled to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, to participate in the “Valdai Club Talks”, stated in the 15th round of this Asian conference: “Russia is against the expansion of NATO towards the Southeast countries. It is Asia.”
According to TASS News agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister continued his remarks at the conference and added: “We do not want to witness the militarization of this region, and we also do not want NATO to expand to Southeast Asian countries.”
“Sergei Lavrov”, the Russian Foreign Minister, said in this regard earlier in the summer season: “The possibility of deploying American nuclear weapons in Southeast Asian countries creates risks for the security of the region.”
The focus of this year’s “Walday” conference is on issues such as the interaction between Russia and Malaysia, as well as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
This event will be held from 9 to 10 December (19 to 20 December) in the capital of Malaysia.
