Zelensky made the request to strengthen the army’s positions in the east after his talks with Oleksandr Sirsky, the commander of the army, and during a nightly video speech. According to Reuters, in this speech, Zelensky said that keeping Ukrainian forces in the fight depends to a large extent on the fact that his country’s Western allies provide his country with vital weapons on time.

Zelensky stated: “Axis in Donetsk need a significant reinforcement of forces. This requires the supply of weapons from our allies.”
In the continuation of this speech, he added: “There is a direct connection. “The more technical capabilities and firepower of our army, the more we will be able to destroy Russia’s combat potential and protect the lives of our soldiers.”

Zelensky also wrote in a post that he published on his Telegram channel that Sirsky, the commander of the Ukrainian army, said that the situation around Kurakhovo and Pokrovsk regions has become difficult for Ukrainians, but he said that the defense of the Zaporizhia region has brought “relatively good results”.
