Allocation of billions of euros of additional EU financial aid to Ukraine
The new head of the European Council in Kiev announced the allocation of 4.2 billion euros of additional financial aid to the budget of Ukraine and monthly financial aid to this country.
According to Isna, the new president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, during his visit to Kiev, said that he will continue to provide humanitarian, economic and military support to Ukraine, including 4.2 billion euros ($4.4 billion) in additional financial aid to the Ukrainian budget. is
Anatolia News Agency reported that during his visit to Kiev, Costa said in a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky: We came here to directly tell the people of Ukraine that we have been with you since the first day of this aggressive war, and you can Count on us to stand by you. What I say is not just words. We will continue to provide humanitarian, economic, diplomatic, military and energy assistance.
He added: This month, the European Union will contribute 4.3 billion euros to the budget of Ukraine. More importantly, starting this month, we plan to give Ukraine 1.5 billion euros per month for a year. This money is provided from the profits of Russia’s blocked property and can be used for military purposes as well.
The head of the European Council emphasized that Ukraine is a part of the European Union family and hopes for Ukraine’s membership in this European institution.
Costa’s comments came as Ukraine faces a difficult winter due to heavy Russian attacks, including on energy infrastructure.
In the meantime, there are speculations about forcing Ukraine to make major concessions, including ceding parts of its territory to Russia in peace talks brokered by the US President-elect Donald Trump’s administration by reducing its military support.
European Union officials have previously emphasized that member states should prepare for the possibility of a reduction in US support for Ukraine in order to continue financial and military aid to Kiev.
