Lavrov: NATO intends to control the world
In a speech on Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that despite claiming to be providing its own security, NATO is seeking global expansion and trying to control economic processes.
According to RCO News Agency, Lavrov said in a statement: “NATO was established to defend the territory of its member states. We were promised that this alliance will not expand; But it spread.”
He added: “We signed a special document in 1997. We saw it spread, but we wanted to limit the damage as much as possible. We signed an agreement with NATO so that they would not deploy permanent armed forces in the territory of new members. However, they continued to do so. “Now this issue has reached our borders.”
The Russian Foreign Minister said: “NATO has declared that it is a defense alliance. Now their threat has arisen wherever China or a part of Russia is present. This alliance has announced with its actions that it has global goals and threats to its security are now seen almost everywhere.
Criticizing the sanctions policies of the West, Lavrov said: “The development of any competitor is limited by illegal sanctions. Currently, Russia is the record holder of these sanctions. More sanctions are imposed against other countries, including Iran and North Korea. “China is also increasingly facing serious restrictions in the transfer of technologies that used to be done without problems.”
“It’s a struggle for resources and, ultimately, a struggle for influence,” the senior Russian official continued. The Americans made their decision a long time ago and announced it. America’s goal is to create a world where no country can compete closely with America. This is what we are clearly witnessing now.”
